The iF Design Award is one of the most important design-awards of the world. Every year, a jury of experts, consisting of some of the most important designers, select the best out of the competition.

Karl-Otto Platz received the award once again in the year 2000, already the third one since 1998.

Out of almost 1700 novelties from more than 900 companies representing 30 different countries, the glass loudspeaker from the product line glass sound® was awarded as "Best of Category" in the consumer electronics category.

The jury was thrilled with the innovative calibre of the glass loudspeakers, in particular with the clear, neutral design, the reduction of parts and the long life span.

The presentation of the awards with 800 international guests took part during the CeBit 2000 computer fair. The year before, glas platz already received the iF Design award for its power glass® in the category "Lighting" ( the example shown was a display shelve with integrated illumination). The glass keyboard operator glass® was ranked among the top 3 at the 1998 iF Ecology Design Awards.
